Torchworking Survey

In this 1-day class, you’ll get a taste of making donut-shaped beads with simple decoration. It’s a completely hands-on experience. Enjoy four hours of learning the very basics of torchworking glass. All of your work will be done on mandrels so that you can incorporate them into jewelry.
Note: The Survey class does not meet BAGI's rental requirements. If your goal is to rent time in BAGI's hot-shop... you will need to take a Beadworking 1, Small Solid Sculpture or equivalent, in order to do so.

Students will also learn various techniques to encase beads in transparent glass, make twisted and striped cane, and create beads with applied floral motifs.

Night 1:  Making Long Beads
Want to expand on your bead making skills with some new shapes?  In this class, we'll start with round beads and morph them into barrels, cylinders, and bicones.

Night 2:  Encasing Your Beads
Add depth to your beads by learning how to encase them in transparent glass.  You will learn 3 different techniques for encasing, as well as when and why to use each technique.

Night 3:  Making Decorative Cane
Stringers... with a twist!  Learn how to make striped cane and twisted cane, as well as how to apply them to your beads.  And if you signed up for the Encasing class, you can combine the two techniques for some real magic!
