Sara Sally LaGrand Lampworking
Creativity and the Glass Corsage
Students were guided through the creation of a glass corsage and were shown how to create glass sculptures using creative methods with the final design in mind. They made glass corsages of their own creation, not the exact piece shown, so each piece they created was unique to them. Experimentation with color combinations was encouraged. During the first day, students learned how to create flameworked sculptural shapes. On the second day, they learned wire working and assemblage of their corsages.
Students brought these tools with them to class:
Personal lampworking tools
Pointed tweezers with no teeth
Wire working tools
– jewelry pliers (chain nose) with no teeth
- both heavy-duty and smaller wire cuttersdit.
Sara gave a wonderful flameworking demonstration for the public in BAGI's hotshop when she was in town to teach a flameworking workshop.
