Welcome to the very first posting on the BAGI "Glog". My name is Rich Small, and I'll be your resident Poster of Glog Postings that are Posted.
Or, as I put it the other day at the BAGI community meeting, "Hi, my name is Rich, and I'm a glass addict."
[Chorus] "Hi Rich."
I've been blowing glass for at least this century. I never thought of glass as a medium of artistic expression. Though I have always been fascinated by glass, I hadn't been exposed to glass as art.
That changed at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington DC. I saw a Chihuly chandelier and was completely blown away. When I got back home I remained fascinated, and eventually stumbled upon the Bay Area Glass Institute. I was a moth to the fire.
This being BAGI, I made a lot of pumpkins. I still do. I also made a lot of...well..."gifts". Archeologists will dig those objects up and think, "Huh?"
But I kept working at it. I kept making.
And now sometimes I don't completely suck! I even have my little son in there with me every once in a while.
So expect to see me touting the benefits of BAGI every week in this space. I'll have great guest gloggers too, so you're not stuck with me every week.
Also expect me to occasionally brag about my son. You will be stuck with that.
